When my brothers and I were young my mom used mustard and lard, use dry mustard over the lard heat and apply, works the same except when it was cold you could leave it on. We also had to drink ginger tea. Now that was some alful tasting stuff, cup of tea dry ginger about 1 teaspoon or a bit more for the older ones, sugar or honey and some milk. You have to drink it all at once. Go to sleep sick wake up 100% better. It really does work on bad colds or flu’s or really sore throats
